Fun times.

I love holidays. Especially resort type holidays. Yes, the sun, the sea, the lazing about doing absolutely nothing at all! Sometimes i wish i can sell coconuts by the beach, not the massaging tho, i dun think i can massage others for a pittance. Haha.
When's the next holiday babe?!

Is being excited all its hyped up to be?

I have a problem. I find it so hard to get excited about things. Perhaps its a way of over compensating in case I get disappointed. Perhaps I've just become too jaded about stuff on earth. Tough.

I'm getting married in October this year. October 14th to be exact. I should be a little more excited about the wedding, planning, being the bride from hell and all. But I'm not! HOw strange. I'm truly looking forward to being married though. Maybe I've planned too many events in my work so the wedding seems like another event for me. Maybe I've seen too many failed marriages to know that its not the wedding that's important but the marriage that is.

I'm looking forward to starting my life with BaChuan. To perhaps even to learn how to cook a proper dish or two. (Not the ironing though, that i'll never learn to like). I'm looking forward to trying to be a good wife (hahah, yes, i'm serious!)having my own home, a husband (a husband!) to go home to...

But I'm not excited cos excitement is overrated.

Does time really fly by? Or do we let it?

Gosh, its been one full year since the last entry in this blog. Created in the throes of extreme boredom from my last job, this blog has been sadly ignored for one year!!

Man, it has been ONE extreme year.

1) Quit my job
2) Started my own business
3) Got overwhelmed by this business, the people, the work, the everything.
4) Realised life is so much more than constant worrying.

I think so much has changed in this past year. The way i think, the way i put value on things. The perspective. Its unlike me to be this way, but well, people change, and its sometimes taking a step back from the shallow things of life that makes you realise what's important.

Its cliche i know. But too bad, this IS my blog and I can be as cliche as i want. hahah

The Joke's on YOU!

Oh yes. Today is April Fool's Day, the day that we once eagerly anticipated so that we can play tricks on our classmates and teachers. Not anymore. April Fool's has now become an afterthought, together with Valentine's day, birthdays, Christmasses and anniversaries.

As I grow older, things become "de-romanticised" and it becomes more and more difficult to whip up a sense of excitement. Shopping trips overseas become ho-hum, birthday parties are just...that. How do we get excited all over again? How do we relive our childhood emotions of extreme spectrums?? I think working life has jaded all of us. It's sad. Its sad that when work sucks, life sucks.

This year, I want to re-invent the way I look at things. I want to gain some perspective, which i HAVE slowly but surely acquired after one sucky job and the next sucky boss. HA.

Lower your expectations in life. And get excited all over again.

Ode to Yona

My good friend is getting married!!! I could not be happier for her cos she just looks so happy..albeit a little stressed with all the preparations and everything.

Dear Yona,

I am so pleased for you that you have found Gerard (again). I think I will burst into tears when I see Sister walk you down the aisle. I think I will tear when I hear you and Gerard exchange vows. Yes, its drama, but I just feel so happy for you cos I know no one who deserves a wonderful, loving and yet sometimes irritating(comes with the package man..) family more than you. Your family. Nice.

I cannot wait for you and Gerard to have cute little ang moh kias (ahah). I will and I promise you this, buy them loads of clothes and toys. They will luuurve their Aunty Wendy.

Furious

I am furious. Because of some old moron who does not know how to be technologically saavy, I have lost ALL the information on my iPOd! Furious. Stupid and selfish colleague. Moronic. No cow sense. How can anyone be as stupid as to install itunes into someone else's computer when that someone else also has an ipod?! Stupidity aside, isn't it extremely rude? How can anyone not have any regard for other's privacy? I am FURIOUS. And super annoyed. I am upset with the fact that I have lost 1800 songs as well as episodes and episodes of Queer as Folk and the OC. Why oh well does stupid people like that exist? Why are they allowed to?? Life is unfair as stupid people should have been weeded out during the process of evolution.

Yo Girlfriend!

I have always thought that every one of us has a group of girlfriends or at least one girlfriend to call our own. Apparantly not.

Which is why it's time to count my blessings. I have girlfriends with whom i have practically grown up with. I have girlfriends that I met in the course of work, totally debunking my pre conceived notion that colleagues cannot be friends. And on top of them all, I have a wonderful bosom buddy (who has a formidable bosom) in my cousin.

I am so blessed. Throw in another 100 pairs of shoes in this equation and I will be the luckiest girl on earth.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Wendy: Hi everyone, my name is Wendy and I am an alcoholic.
Everyone (Choruses): Hi Wendy

BWAHAHAHAH

Its nothing like that. My AA club, made up of fun/crazy/drinks loving ex colleagues that came together through our love of hanging out and incessant bitching. I guess we were the only cool people there..and Sharon, you are the only cool person left there! Awful bosses, bosses who cannot speak/write English properly, bosses who think the world of themselves, and bosses who are all of the above. (Yes,we all know who that is - "thi is..uh know..")

I love our AA meetings, which ironically, is to come together and drink ourselves silly on delicious Moscato-s and Lychee Martinis.

YUM.

Growing up is hard to do

I remember the Toys R Us song "I don't wanna grow up I'm a Toys R Us kid". Didn't register then but now! Everyone is growing up and getting married...moving into the next phase of their lives. Much as I want to pretend to be a teenager, I can't. Its time to act responsible and be an adult. Kill me.

I want to play at Toys R Us. I want to run around the shop with a trolley and just push things into the cart.

Instead of playing there, I am working. Promotions, events...Not fun. But whoever said being a grown up was fun?
